Angie Hranowsky is hands-down, one of my absolute favorite interior designers. I know that I would feel right at home in any space she had designed! I find the way that she uses color and mixes high and low-priced items to be incredibly refreshing. Not only are the spaces she designs beautiful and inspiring, they feel attainable. Angie often combines classic, traditional pieces with vintage or eclectic items, creating a layered, highly personalized look. Angie started out as a graphic designer and eventually went on to pursue her interest in interior design at Parsons School of Design in New York in 2004. She currently practices both graphic and interior design and has clients throughout the country. Angie’s work has been featured in many publications including Domino, House Beautiful, Metropolitan Home, and Coastal Living. Angie and her family currently reside in Charleston, South Carolina.

Current City: Charleston, SC
{Angie’s Gorgeous Living Room: Can you guess what color is her favorite?}
LDV: What inspired you to begin your career in interior design?
AH: I have been passionate about interiors for as long as I can remember. Although I have a BA in art history and went to graduate school for graphic design I have consistently been doing my own interiors since I was 18. After moving to Charleston in 2000, people would see my house and ask why I wasn’t doing this for a living. I loved it and soon asked myself the same question. So in 2005, I started adding interior clients to my graphic design business.

LDV: What do you love most about it? What is the most challenging aspect?
AH: Researching, concepting and finding all of the right elements that will pull a room together. Seeing all of those ideas come together. I also love working with my amazing clients which often turn into wonderful friendships.
Right now expanding my business as it grows and finding the time to do things like a blog which I’m currently setting up. Also, finding a balance between work and being a mom to two young children. I am so fortunate and love having two such fulfilling roles in my life.

LDV: Where do you find inspiration?
AH: A lot of places. I love interior design books, new and vintage and I’m obsessed with magazines. I get inspired looking at architecture and vintage furniture, but textiles and fashion play a big role as well.
{Kate Moss for Burberry}
LDV: Who are some of your personal style icons?
AH: David Hicks, Billy Baldwin, Kate Moss & Gio Ponti
{Angie in her gorgeous kitchen, which happens to be a personal favorite.}
LDV: How would you describe your own style?
AH: Relaxed modern (for both fashion and interiors)
{Angie used a variety of beautiful ethnic textiles in this bedroom.}
LDV: What traits do you most admire in a person?
AH: compassion & modesty
{Donghia’s gorgeous Suzani print Fabric and a modern marble fireplace make for a gorgeous living room.}
LDV: What is your principal weakness?
AH: Putting too much on my plate at one time.
{A Chic Bedroom of Angie’s Design}
LDV: What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
AH: Follow your heart.
{Angie’s Adorable Children, Loulou and Sasha}
LDV: What do you consider your greatest achievement?
AH: The success of my interior design business and my beautiful children, Loulou & Sasha.
LDV: What is your idea of living “la dolce vita”?
AH: The life I have now and being grateful for every moment. Traveling, exploring new places and laying on the beach with a good book ranks right up there too.
{Angie enjoyed several of her favorite things at her 40th birthday party: chocolate, jeans, and gold jewelry.}

Book: I love to read. My recent favorites are City of Thieves, Sarah’s Key and The Alchemist. Always anything by David Sedaris.

Blogs: La Dolce Vita, Style Court, coco + kelly, and Ish and Chi to name just a few
{Angie’s home features chairs upholstered in Hicks’ La Fiorentina, which is also my personal favorite.}
Texture: For me it’s about the combination. Texture is a big part of any space that I do. I am a sucker for rattan.
Fabric or Pattern: I am obsessed with fabric so it’s hard to pick one, but if I had to, it would be David Hicks La Fiorentina by Groundworks
Color: Purple & Turquoise

Scent: fresh baked bread
Extravagance: very expensive dark chocolate
