New Orleans-Style Romance

This gorgeous photo-shoot from the amazing wedding photographer, Jose Villa, has me extremely excited about our upcoming trip to New Orleans. Joy Thigpen styled the photo-shoot and boy, did she nail it! The crescent city has never looked quite so chic or romantic. Villa and Thigpen captured newlyweds, Kathleen and Steven on their honeymoon which included stops at several iconic New Orleans locales. The couple’s model good looks certainly don’t hurt! I am crazy about the classic, glamorous vibe of the photo shoot as well as the clothes the couple chose for the shoot. I want every dress Kathleen wore!

I received a ton of wonderful tips and suggestions for New Orleans last month. We will be there next weekend, so if anyone has any last minute tips, I’d love to hear them! Also, what was your favorite element about this photo shoot? How would you describe the mood?

We can't wait to have you here. I really hope you enjoy it. I sent you a looong list of scoop about restaurants (and tourist trap pitfalls) when you initially asked for recs. If you need anything else, please don't hesitate to shoot me an email. It is HOT HOT HOT (like Houston), but wonderful here right now. Have a wonderful time! Jessie

Wow! These photos are stunning. My favorite element is the gorgeous gritty Nouvelle Orleans mural.

Superb talent and crazy good looks! These photos are gorgeous. There is nothing that I would have changed about our wedding except for getting photos taken like these and regret not even thinking about it. Did you and Fabian take pre or post wedding photos? Hope you two have a wonderfully romantic time together. xx

Fantastic work, Mr. Villa. I too love the dresses the bride wore...I especially adore the gray dress. The mood hit me as effortlessly chic and elegant. The photographer caught the essence of their beauty and the love between the two.

I'm an annual Nola visitor! Beyond the usual stuff, go see live music at Tips (uptown), Maple Leaf, Howlin' Wolf, dba, etc. See more live music at Wednesday on the Square. Check out Shamarr Allen at Cafe Negril and Anders Osborne at Chickie Wah Wah. Eat at Green Goddess and Restaurant August (worth the money, I swear) and Cochon. Buy pastries at La Boulange on Magazine Street in Uptown (I live in San Francisco, and I still think about Boulange's chocolate/almond brioche and chocolate croissants). Take the St. Charles streetcar uptown during the daytime. Go to Hove for amazing fragrances. See an in-store performance at Louisiana Music Factory. And if you can, track down Lucky Magazine's feature on New Orleans from 2006 or 2007 - I went to almost all of the featured stores and found some great stuff.

Paloma,

Thanks for these pictures. As a NOLA resident its great to see. I hope you have a great time here. It'll be hot but make sure you have a Pimms cup at Napoleon House and a good brunch. I recommend Arnaud's. There is a Jazz Trio (request They All Asked for You) and a Mardi Gras costume museum on the 2nd floor. Enjoy and I cant wait to see your posts of the trip.
