One Day

Have any of you read the novel, One Day by David Nicholls? I am really looking forward to reading it ever since I first saw the trailer while at Midnight in Paris, for the new movie based on the synonymous book that is set to debut this summer. Anne Hathaway plays Emma and Jim Sturgess plays Dexter. They’re best friends-turned-lovers whose relationship rollercoaster spans a period of twenty years. I’m a little dubious of Anne’s British accent, but other that that, this movie looks wonderful. Does this look like something you would watch?

I haven't seen it or read it. But it sounds interesting! I really need to read something else other than books about interiors and babies! LOL

Have a blessed day!

I'm crying just watching the trailer. I read the book and while it took me awhile to get into, after I was finished, I couldn't stop thinking about it. Such a great way to tell a love story. Thanks for posting!

Thanks for sharing this - I definitely want to see it/read the book now too! I agree with you though, her accent seems a bit unnatural for her haha

Reading it now, and I can't put it down! Great book, and I can totally picture Anne Hathaway as the perfect Emma for the film. Can't wait to see it after I finish reading.

That's one of my favorite books - you'll love it!

My pet peeve is when studios cast American actors to play British characters (poorly). I love Anne but think she's a poor choice for one of my favorite characters :(

But I'll watch it anyway.

My husband is British and I lived in the UK for awhile. From the clip, AH's accent does not sound convincing to me. Still, the movie looks like it's going to be good. I will seek out the book as well. I hadn't heard of it prior to your post and it's lovely that so many people enjoyed the characters!

Such a great book, highly recommend! When I was reading it, I had envisioned Jude Law as the lead (altho I know he's too old for it).

With you on the accent tho...hmmm....

oooooh yeah - i'm ready to watch this one! (but i agree - not so sure she mastered the accent).

Gosh, I may need to read the book. I, too, saw the trailer before seeing Midnight In Paris, and while I def. want to see the movie, I hated how I felt like I saw the entire story unfold w/i that trailer...it left nothing up to the imagination. I hope I'm wrong.
