Global Architecture: Fashion Meets Coastal Design

http://www.wikinfo.org/index.php/Rhode_Island
Hello, La Dolce Vita readers! Brendan here of (BAD) Blog About Design, with a second Global Architecture blog post. Winter in New York can be a chilling experience, from November-March, cold temperatures are the norm. I have decided to take my mind on a warm getaway with this post. (ABOVE) The Breakers, is a brilliant Vanderbilt estate located in Rhode Island. Designed by architect Richard Hunt, the 65,000 square foot home is now a U.S National Historic Landmark. This home is one of my favorite historic mansions in the U.S. The attention to detail and impeccable quality are not found in today’s architecture. The facade of the home is adorned in limestone, the roof Terra Cotta tile. I love Terra Cotta tile because of its longevity. Terra Cotta tile is more expensive than other roofing materials but its long-lasting nature can make it a smart choice. The relationship between the mansion and the ocean is dramatic because of the homes higher elevation. This home is a perfect example of the American Renaissance period and historic American culture. (BELOW 1) I love the use of neutrals and bold colors. This vintage 1980s printed Escada dress is made of silk. The back of the dress fastens up with eight gold metal buttons and a zipper. The bold pattern on this dress is perfect for spring or summer. The earrings are designed by Lucifer Vir and are set with emerald, Ethiopian opal, and diamonds. The white gold buttoned jacket is Gucci. The soft, smooth material and silky lining creates high wearing comfort. The navy blue leather bag is Louis Vuitton, and has a brown lining. Absolutely perfect for this outfit. The yellow spring 2012 shoes are Christian Louboutin. This outfit is perfect for a night on the town, a party, or to visit the Breakers.

(ABOVE) This bedroom is designed by Kelly Wearstler. The symmetry of this space balances the bold stripped wall paper and carpet.  The pyramid lamps on either side of the bed are a great shape and work well with the circular mirrors, because of their different form. The two swivel tube chairs are amazing and perfect to curl up in and read a book. I love the texture of the end tables. (BELOW 2) I love putting gold and white together. The metallic-gold dress is from Oscar de la Renta. I find it both classy as well as edgy. The clutch and necklace (Rose Quartz) are designed by Kelly Wearstler. I love their originality as well as their strong shape. The shoes are designed by Charlotte Olympia. I love how the accent of gold looks against the white. The Bedroom and outfit are all about strong pieces that work together to create glamour.

(ABOVE) This Mediterranean style home is very beautiful. I love the wall of ivy on the side of the pool house. It creates a natural look and distracts from the stucco walls. With a great oversized pool and mint green chaise lounge chairs, what's not to love? (BELOW 3) Putting red with a kick of green is always a smart choice. The fuchsia printed silk chiffon dress is from Oscar de la Renta. Its bold pattern really makes a statement. The green Tonda tweed clutch, by Diane von Furstenberg adds a kick of color to this outfit. The 18k Rose gold ring with pale green turquoise and White Pave diamonds is by Lucifer Vir. This ring has so much character and brings a fantastic eclectic vibe to this outfit. The Calfskin patented leather shoe with a natural wood heel is by Marni. The home and outfit are all about strong patterns that work together to create a casual, yet dressy look.
(ABOVE) This Ralph Lauren Living Room is brilliant! I love the elegant kick of blue and tropical touches. The blue and white stripes are  carried through the space beautifully. The gold accents add a touch of glamour. (BELOW 4) This outfit is perfect for a night out or a casual event. The light blue shirt is from Mtwtfss. The quilted leather tote, by Marc Jacobs. The creme white pleated full cotton skirt is by Chloe. The skirt adds a delicate touch to this outfit. The green Tonda tweed clutch by Diane von Furstenberg adds a kick of color to this outfit. The Swarovski crystallized suede pump slingback is by Giuseppe Zanotti. These shoes are so elegant and are perfect for any setting or occasion. The monochrome bracelet watch is by Toy Watch. I love the kick of blue it adds to the outfit. These amazing earrings are by Jean Schlumberger. The home and outfit are all about soft blues and contemporary touches. You can add as little or as much to your space as you want. Don't follow rules, just do
