Glamour Obsession: Palm Springs Chic

{Slim Aarons: Poolside Gossip}
Happy New Year's LDV Readers!!!  Vanessa Stern here from Vanessa & Valentine.  I always love the excitement and mystery a new year brings!  For the past couple of years, my husband and I (and now our little baby boy Barron) have celebrated the new year while relaxing in Palm Desert.  It's become tradition for both of our families to come together and ring in the new year while soaking up the sun poolside, shopping on El Paseo, drinking (really stiff) margies at our favorite Mexican restaurant Armando's, gaming at the Indian Casinos, and hitting the spa (detoxing) at the Marriott.
{a pink front door is a must at my Palm Springs house!  Adore!}
I finally was able to relax (and come down from the rat race) after a few days and it got me thinking how much I love being in the desert and how much I would love to have my own vacation home there someday (and not have to flop out at my parent's house).  With that said, here's what I came up with as inspiration for my desert party pad, and when I get the keys, you're all welcome to stay for the weekend!!!
I love this exterior, lots of clean white space and lines, bright orange front doors, palm tree and cactus for landscaping, done and done!  For my desert home, mid century modern architecture is an absolute must!

Again, I'm seeing a trend with the orange front doors, but I do love the contrast this home offers with black and white (my favorite)!  Don't the palm trees just make you happy??!!
I'm loving this bright yellow sunny front door to greet my guests!
I definitely would be doing a lot of white furniture with bold graphic pops of color!
Floor to ceiling glass sliding doors out to the side patio is perfect for bringing in all the light.  It's so much fun just to leave them open allowing the dry air to breeze through the house.
The pool will have a greek key pattern and lots of ikat print throw pillows...
Here's the glamorous little entry way with more citron accents and geometric patterned wallpaper.
...and the living room with pops of blue...
...I'm in love with this master bedroom and all it's fabulous glory!
When we get bored hanging around the house, we can head on down to the Viceroy...
or grab some cocktails at Mr. Parker's...
...and I'll be dressed to kill in my chilled out desert attire...
roaming the open highway...
...in my cute little Benzy that I use on the weekends!
Here's a snapshot of me lounging poolside in Palm Desert this past weekend, with my brand new Gigi New York Teddie Tote that I won on this blog!  I've been carrying it ever since it arrived, and I just love the smell of the leather, how light and roomy it is, and I especially love my personalized monogram in gold!  Thanks again!!!

xo,

Vanessa

I LOVE LOVE Palm Springs, as does my husband. I went there all of them time growing up and often when we lived in SoCal, it's my husband's favorite place in the world and he dreams about owning a second home there someday. And all of these options are stunning...I had the opportunity to go into the house designed by David Jimenez (it was for sale) that you have pictured here a few times, and I wished I could've snatched it up right there.

So glad to find you. Love this post! Love Palm Springs. We visited [from Australia] 2 years ago and adored it. We modelled our house on Neutra's style and also an Aussie architect called Harry Seidler. cheers Sandy
