A New Interior Design Project

I always love getting emails from readers. Over the years, I have gotten many requests for interior design work and in the past, I referred those readers to other designers who I trust and respect. More recently however, I have felt up to the challenge of designing spaces for others. I’ve worked on my own home and have done design work for friends and relatives, not to mention all of the styling work I did for High Gloss, but lately, I have really felt like my calling may be to someday delve into interior design, the field I am so passionate about, full time. In the meantime, I have been taking on some projects for readers and friends.

I recently helped a reader with her living room and dining room. She and her husband wanted spaces that were tailored and polished, yet relaxed and family-friendly since they have two small children and a dog. They’re young, hip, and sophisticated and wanted their home to be a reflection of that without feeling like it was off-limits to their kids or pet. I recommended polished pieces with classic lines done in casual, family-friendly fabrics like linen, cotton, and aged leather. They’re thrilled with the result and I have to say, I love it, too!

Lynbrook Family Room
{The family room is warm and inviting and was designed around pieces with durable fabrics and finishes with a natural patina to make them more family-friendly. I love the masculine, California-cool vibe of this space!}

Lynbrook Dining Room
{We went slightly more modern and added a touch of glamour in the dining room while maintaining the inviting, masculine vibe of the living room. The walls will be painted a deep navy (see swatch at top right), which will make everything pop! I think the contrast of the white furniture and gold pieces is going to look amazing against the navy walls. We love juxtaposition of the Saarinen Tulip Table and the more traditional Chippendale chairs, mirror, and lighting.}
What do you think? I hope you like these spaces!

Because my client paid for this design work, I cannot share links to sources. If you’re interested in having me design a custom space for you, please contact me at paloma@ladolcevitablog.com for more information.

Very nice Paloma, is this an e-decorating project or will you be more full-service?

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!

Capella, for now, I am doing some e-design, but hope to branch out into full service design in the future.
