Kitchen Update…and a Little Eye Candy

Sadly, this is not the “after” to the before of my kitchen that I shared with you last week when I asked for your help in choosing a paint color. We ended up deciding on Martha Stewart’s Sharkey Gray even though I said that we had ruled it out. As you saw in last week’s post, we had tested the paint over blue painter’s tape on the cabinets to get a feel for the colors. However, the blue distorted the colors a bit, so we tried it again, this time on regular masking tape and it made a huge difference. The Sharkey Gray was the clear winner. All of the other shades were lovely, but Sharkey has the warmth and depth we were looking for and it works well with the other elements in the kitchen as well as in the breakfast room and family room since we have an open floor plan. We’ve used a deep mocha and Hermes orange accents in the room and we felt that a cooler grey would work against those colors, so Sharkey Grey it is!

I am hosting a baby shower at my home this weekend and have been busy preparing for it with various home projects, but my husband, who will be painting the cabinets himself, doesn’t think he can prep everything and have them completely ready and painted by Friday. I’m a little bummed, but I don’t want to rush it, so the big reveal will have to wait a couple more weeks. In the meantime, I’ll leave you with this insanely gorgeous kitchen by the Kitchen Lab.

I love the fact that it isn't a huge kitchen, so many people can feel realistically inspired by it!

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Paloma, how is he painting the cabinets? My brothers helped my mom with her kitchen remodel and they started to paint them with a brush and it took forever and you saw every detail. They ended up getting a paint sprayer and it worked like a charm. It was expensive but worth it. You may be able to rent one, too.

We just redid our kitchen and chose sharkey grey as well. I had a little white mixed in so it's basically 3/4 strength. Love it. It changes with the lighting and time of day but is always really pretty! Good luck!

I love this kitchen. Doing mine in sharkey Gray as well. Even forking out the extra $2000 my builder wants to do a true color match. Where is the light pendant from. Though I saw one like that somewhere the other day but cannot remember. love it. And did you do an artisan glaze over the gray on the cabinets?
