Dream Home: Imagine Design

Today’s “Dream Home” comes from the lovely, Southern-California based, Jami Goldsmith of Imagine Design. I am loving the bold architecture and clean lines of the home she’s dreamed up!

Wow, it's so crazy to think that I'm guest posting on the very first blog that I laid eyes on a few years ago! Paloma has been a major reason why I started my own blog, www.imaginedesignblog.com. I've loved La Dolce Vita from the first time I landed on it in a Google search and have been enjoying Paloma's posts throughout the years. It's an honor to be here, to say the least. Thank you! I owe Paloma another "thank you", as this creative exercise has forced me to really think about what is MY style. As an interior designer, I'm so accustomed to fine tuning my client's tastes and it's my job to hone in on their style, so it leaves little room to implement my own. I honestly had a difficult time blogging about this, as I found myself gathering a hodgepodge of pictures from all different types of design, loving little bits and pieces of every style.

My design sensory has been on overload since I've bombarded myself with home interiors while studying it for years, loving it since I was a kid and showing houses as a real estate agent. In order to figure out my favorite, I had to stop and ask myself, "What excites me?". I thought about which homes I've been most attracted to throughout my life and what spaces really make my heart flutter as I walk into them. Undoubtedly and undeniably, one style of architecture and design has always been my front runner: modern. As I think of TV shows and movies with a variety of homes, my favorite is always the modern home like the Cullen's home in Twilight, or Jay and Gloria's home on Modern Family, or Joel and Julia's house on Parenthood. Have you been to Aria in Las Vegas yet? H.E.A.V.E.N. in my book. After realizing that modern is my favorite style, this was easiest post ever to create! With all that being said, welcome to my (dream) home, located in Southern California, on the beach!

FRONT EXTERIOR: My dream home looks something similar to this as you enter. I love mixing a multitude of materials like iron, rock, stone, glass and concrete with greenery that acts as sculptures. The layered and tiered facade, including the landscaping creates visual interest and keeps your eye moving.
SIDE EXTERIOR: The sides of my dream home are a combination of floor to ceiling glass walls and solid walls, situated just right, so there is still an element of privacy, but also this lends a feeling of being outdoors while indoors and flooding the space with natural light.
ENTRY: As you enter, my foyer is filled with glass to allow rays of California sunshine to pass through. Come on in!
ATRIUM: After entering, you'll find an atrium. This allows in even more glorious sunshine and connects the interior with nature. I'd keep a turtle in here.
KITCHEN: Next, we enter upon the kitchen. My kitchen has the best of the best in appliances and finishes. It is wide, open and inviting for my family and friends who spend most of their holidays here. We have plenty of room to pull up a seat, stand around, and enjoy each other's company while cooking up the tastiest of treats.
DINING ROOM: Most of our gatherings and meals require a larger area than the kitchen has to offer, so we head to the dining room. Here you'll find an expansive wood table with plenty of seating for large groups of people. There is dim-able ambient lighting, large glass doors which can be opened during entertaining so guests can move freely back and forth between the dining space and garden area.
POWDER ROOM: Take a quick trip to the powder room to freshen up. I really can't get enough of creative uses for small spaces. Genius.
LIVING ROOM: After enjoying a delicious meal, we all cozy up in the living room. Here, you'll find sleek and streamlined furniture, which is actually quite comfortable as you sink into the goose down filled cushions and relax. The ribbon fireplace warms you while soft music plays in the background throughout my entire home. P.S. There is no snow at my dream home.
OFFICE: Since I work from home, my home office/studio is very comfortable and filled with books, catalogs and magazines. I like to keep it simple, cleaned and organized so my ideas can flow easily. All my samples, fan decks and supplies are tucked neatly away.
MASTER BEDROOM: Yes, this is my master bedroom. You like? Me too. I do NOT like the bedding what so ever or any of the decor in this photo for that matter, but the rest is amazing. I can just imagine this overlooking the ocean (rather than the desert).
MASTER BATHROOM: I love my bathroom. It's so roomy, light and clean! I love the shower, which is the size of a small bedroom and the large soaking tub. The colors and lighting have all been adjusted in order to make me look my best while I'm getting ready!
OUTDOOR SHOWER: As far back as I can remember, I've always wanted an outdoor shower with birds singing and the sun shining while I lather up. Now I have one.
MASTER CLOSET: There is room for everything in my closet. Even a sitting area where I can put on my heels. I have plenty of hanging space so my clothes are not smooshed together and I have lots of natural light in here so I can see everything. Don't worry, I have shades and filters on the windows so my clothes won't fade.
GUEST ROOM: My guests are comfortable in here during their stay in my dream home. I love the wood headboard with a window incorporated. Most everyone who stays here doesn't want to leave.
GUEST BATH: My guests enjoy a nice shower and bathroom filled with a variety of tile of different textures. I made sure the shower was a roll-in shower for any type of accessible situation.
BACKYARD: As some of you may know, before moving to California, I grew up in Minnesota. There is very small amount of days during the year that you can leave your windows or doors open and so it's always been a dream of mine to live in an area that is conducive to outdoor living. Large, glass accordion doors are a must. There is plenty of seating out here and a gas fire pit to roast marshmallows and make s'mores!

VIEW: Last, but not least, this is my view from my backyard. Yes, it's quite nice, I know. A pool is essential to Southern California living and an ocean view is luxury living at it's finest. If I could only choose one of the photos from this post to sum up my dream home, it would be this. Blue skies, a pool with loungers and the gorgeous ocean to gaze at all day long...what could be better? Thanks for visiting my dream home! I've so enjoyed "designing" this home for myself and sharing it with you all while putting in out there in the universe to turn this dream into a reality. I have to admit that modern is not my first pick style wise, however there is something alluring to everything that she picked, and the amazing views definitely help! The kitchen is a stunner and love the master bath (especially the outdoor shower!). Love it!

What gorgeous modernity! I love all the little touches like the pool right off the master and the deeper wood finishes in the living room.

Dream home indeed! Love the clean asthetic, that is so angular and architectural....but elegant and inviting as a
"home" should be. Though more contemporary than my own personal taste, its obvious that it was done with a true sense of refined style and taste. Just beautiful!

While really modern isn't my style, I love what Jami has put together and it's definitely dream home material. My favourite elements are the gorgeous kitchen and bathroom- love all the marble. Also adore all those gorgeous windows. Beautiful post!

Well;
I guess I could live there (duh).
The closet would need some more space though.
I do like the facade too.

OMG! I've died and gone to heaven. I love every picture. I especially like the very first picture of the contemporary look, love it! I especially like the outside shower, the closet, the living room (with snow), and the backyard view (just to name a few). Seriously, I've died and gone to heaven. Love it! On a side note, Jami your blog was the very first one that I came to and really enjoyed - I've been following since August of last year and now advertising with you. I think the excitement of "your" is that you do make a reality what each and every client wants regardless if your personal imprint and/or style reflects in the design - its important that your client sees their vision. I think if you have sucessfully done this over and over you are doing fabulous! And most importantly on your way to having this house one day...
