Fabulous Room Friday 02.03.12

Pinned Image
Continuing in the spirit of Vanessa’s post on brights and neon colors yesterday, this week’s “Fabulous Room” is filled with punchy colors, fun accessories, and a bright outlook. I stumbled on the above image on Pinterest-- surprise, surprise! After clicking through to its original source, I found the image below as well. This room serves as a fun studio space and has a conference table complete with a long, zebra and nailhead bench, a couple of desks and plenty of storage, compliments of the fabulous bookcase. I love that the back of the bookcase was painted black. It really makes the colors of the books and accessories pop.

The addition of the tufted, fuchsia chair (love!), fun accessories, and a fabulous, yellow pagoda chandelier make the room so vibrant. I can only imagine how much fun the owner must have working in this space on a daily basis. This really illustrates why Jonathan Adler calls his style “happy chic”, doesn’t it? I get a very similar vibe from this room.
Which piece in the room is your favorite? Do you think you could ever commit to having so many bright colors in one room in your home? Have a wonderful weekend!

I so love that hot pink chair. Wish i was bold enough to do that.

those bookcases look like the ones Jenny from LGN did, the DIY shelf on the top to make them taller!!

I can't pick just one element to be my favorite- I really just adore everything!! I guess if I had to choose it would be that fuschsia tufted chair. It's divine!

I love the chandelier and the desk! I admit that for an office I would usually be overwhelmed by all the bright color, but this room is so large and spacious that I don't feel swallowed up by everything in it. A great look!

I actually did this exact color scheme, including zebra in my home office and it was the most effective and energizing place for me to work! This room of course has better styling. When I sold the home the stager said the wall color was neutral enough to keep and the house sold quickly despite the slump (BM Romantica).

I really waffle back and forth between a more subdued palette and brighter, more colorful accents for my home office (and my home in general). I think brighter spaces can inspire creativity, while a clean, organized neutral space can help me be productive. I wish I was brave enough to commit to the colorful route, because truthfully they are the ones I feel most drawn to when I browse through images online.

That is Edie's house. You can read more about it and see all the other rooms on her blog http://www.lifeingraceblog.com/. This is the house she just built and moved in to right before Christmas 2011. The home her family lived in before burned to the ground a few days before Christmas 2010. Her story and her life is inspiring.

Love your blog!
Hugs!

I trend to shy away from bright/neons in aspects of my life ;-) But I LOVE that zebra bench :-)

That is a lot of colors but for an office it is not bad and it may be inspirational for some in a creative job!
