Fabulous Room Friday 09.23.11

kara mann

I am currently loving the “masculine-with-a-glamorous-twist” aesthetic of this living/dining room designed by Kara Mann. This stunning apartment on Chicago’s iconic Michigan Avenue makes a bold impact by mixing symmetrical space planning and classic pieces with irreverent, eclectic items like the fabulous Jean de Merry Lumiere chandelier. Pairing the clean, modern lines of the sofa sumptuous textiles like the luminous velvet upholstery and the rich, chocolate colored rug give the room a glamorous vibe.kara mann2

I love the mix of elements in the dining room. The Jean de Merry chandelier looks fantastic paired with the handsome table. I love that the chairs are completely upholstered in velvet. Their shape is modern, but the upholstery selection is reminiscent of Hollywood Regency, further increasing the glamour quotient.

Thanks for your readership and comments this week. Have a wonderful weekend!

It kind of reminds me the appartment in Sex&The City 2 movie.

Don't you think?

Oh maybe it's just me, but it's kind the style.

Kisses,

Carla

OMG those sofas are amaaaaaaazing! Awesome space, and like another reader posted, it is very authentic. Doesn't look staged at all. It's beautiful.

I love the balance between feminie and masculine. The on going debate in my house is how to put the two together with out one becoming too overwhelminh, ie my husband doesnt want to live in a "girly" home.lol. This is why three years later all our walls are still white and we have neutral furniture.

Yes, just what came to mind when I first saw this image. Definitely masculine. It's kind of refreshing after seeing a lot of fluff. Love that light fixture!

I would like to know what "this gold / metal thingy hanging on the wall" is. It's "hit and run" for you to throw it out there with no hint. Love it!!
