Dream Home: I Suwannee

I’ve been a big fan of Jamie Meares of I Suwannee and Furbish Studio for quite some time. Her style is as some might say, bananas, so naturally, I knew I would love her “Dream Home”. Enjoy!

i suwannee

I can't be sure about the exterior, because that's going to depend on location. We think we want to end up at the beach, but with no clear plan on how to get there, right now we're in Raleigh, where a beach cottage would be out of place.  so let's just to stick the interior.  5248771641_9e83769ae0_z i crave coziness in rooms - i can't do sparse.  i need lots of textures, lots of layers, and levels and plenty of eye candy.  i know i'll need built ins, where ever i can get them.  especially bookcases, because not only do i love the way they make a room feel, but i have lotsandlots of books that need a home. Screen+shot+2010-11-01+at+3.05.39+PM-1 i like managed clutter.  if you have to put the tv on a cabinet, then by all means, put 17 other things around it. Screen shot 2011-01-08 at 11.15.23 AM i want bespoke everything that i can wave my bespoke wand on.  floors.  trims.  ceilings. IMG_8301BCR_diningroom Screen shot 2011-01-09 at 10.27.17 PM i like vibrant color and lots of seating groups.  i like making a room have to work for it. mdesignScreen shot 2011-01-09 at 10.28.13 PM MRE1 BCR_homeoffice  Screen_shot_2010-11-29_at_10_09_19_PM i want bathrooms with lots of storage - this is a spot where i don't want to see clutter.  interesting finishes and good lighting. deborah+needleman%27s+bathroom i want drama, but i don't want to look pretentious, even if i am. Picture+2 pink+via+adiaryoflovely i want interesting surfaces, like brick walls, coffered ceilings, and did i mention built ins? 6a00d83539e9ed69e20120a5baccd6970c-800wi IMG_8292 179782_Ne6TAfox_c i want things that are old so when my husband and animal menagerie age them prematurely they look just how they are supposed to. 6a00d83539e9ed69e20120a5644c5a970b-800wi 35_1 i'd like spacious walk in closets where i can lounge in the midst of them. Screen shot 2011-01-09 at 10.46.43 PM in conclusion, i'd also like: live in help.  a yard man.  a chef.  a tree house and more schnauzers. 188238_DcbPSxg0_c

LOVED this (as I always do- this series is one of my absolute favourites in blogland)- I love the abundance of colour and pattern in Jamie's dream home. And totally appreciate the slightly eccentric/whimsical vibe. I love spaces that feel like they've been put together over time and almost curated like a gallery- this dream home definitely feels that way. I'm so on the same page with this one.

Love the "managed clutter" term. So brilliant - could be applied to my life. Thanks for the pics - many gorgeous ones!

I also love decorative clutter. The English do this so well.

But I am with you when it comes to bathrooms, not clutter everything neatly tucked away. My biggest reward designing a bathroom is when clients no longer leave everything out. You give them easy storage, and they will use it.
