Fabulous Room Friday 08.23.13

This week's fabulous room is a feminine living space designed by Summer Thornton. Summer created a warm, beautifully layered space featuring several bold colors and patterns that work together rather harmoniously. The bright Persian rug could easily command all of the attention in the room, but Summer made sure that all of the other pieces in the room created a balance overall look.

{The room features ample seating and several fun, bold patterns including a pair of leopard pillows and chevron curtains.}

Isn't this a fun room? Have a fabulous weekend!

Jet Set: The Serengeti in Style

Hello LDV readers! Brendan here of (BAD) Blog About Design. I'm taking us on a bit of an adventure for this Jet Set post. The Singita Sasakwa Lodge is located in the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania. What I love about this hotel is it's English influenced interiors with an African touch! The hotel has been rated as one of the world's most beautiful hotels for the past few years. People who have stayed at the hotel describe their time here as wonderful. The ability to be so close to nature is unbelievable (yes folks, I'm excited!) (ABOVE) The lobby of the hotel feels like a home. There's no oversized fountains, or large seating areas. Instead, people are greeted by interiors that feel extremely personal. Which piece is your favorite?

"Point of View: The eye is drawn over the endless Serengeti plains below, to the blue hills in the distant horizon of the land that goes on forever". I could totally see myself sitting on one of those benches drinking some coffee and looking at the nature!
Hello pool! Can you just imagine relaxing in this pool and looking out? I love the wood chairs, such a classic vibe going on here. What a great place for a photoshoot!
"Beyond Exception: A combination of authentic European style with typical East African influences brings to mind a stately home that has stood the test of time". How great would a breakfast, dinner or lunch here be? The furnishings could go in a beautiful dining room.
The furniture is mainly wood and very heavy. I love the white table cloth and plates. It lightens the furnishings and gives the table a fresh look.
 This seating area is wonderful. I love the sofa, it has a little Asian influence to it if you will. Having a telescope here is a great idea. I'd look out at the National Park for hours!
Blissful Isolation: The silence here evokes an extraordinary sense of peace where quite moments await you after an exhilarating safari." I like that the sheets are white, and that the pillows have a strong graphic pattern. A canopy bed is so dreamy.
A separate tub and shower. I love the clawfoot tub. The bathroom is extremely beautiful. Not the type of space you'd expect to see in hotel at this location.
h"Distinctive Refinement. There's a tangible magic within the manor house, where refined taste is brought to life through impeccable detail." The dining space is extremely refined and rich. So much texture here! I could defiantly have a meal here. What do you think of the hotel? Have you stayed here before?

Colorful Chic by Lilly Bunn Interiors

{I am completely obsessed with this dining room. Every piece is perfection on its own-- the hand-painted deGournay wallpaper, French Bergere chairs swathed in Madeline Weinrib fabric, chartreuse tufted dining chairs with nailhead trim, an oval Eero Saarinen Tulip Table, and an urchin chandelier. What happens when you put them all together? A very chic design moment.}

After spotting a snap of the gorgeous dining room above on Madeline Weinrib's Instagram, I was thrilled to find out that the room had been designed by Lilly Bunn Weekes of Lilly Bunn Interiors and to see more images from the same project! I have a hunch that this may be her new apartment since there are a lot of pieces in this home that have appeared in her previous apartments. It's so fun to see how talented designers can breathe new life into tried and true pieces and make them feel completely fresh in their new surroundings. It's so interesting to see the evolution of Lily's homes and I hope to continue seeing more of her beautiful work.

{Do you recognize the statement-making brass coffee table from the famous orange and purple living room that Lily had the Madeline Weinrib Bergeres in a couple of years ago? It feels so different paired with the emerald green velvet sofa, floral chair, and Beni Ourain rug.}

{Notice the Wallpapered Ceiling in the Foyer}

{I love the sleek simplicity of the kitchen.}

{The moss green upholstered headboard and matching bedskirt are so chic. The bedroom features such a fun mix of prints!}

{I so want to use Thibaut's Tanzania wallpaper in a project soon! The combination of the wallpaper, brass sconces, and mirror is so good!}

Which room in this home is your favorite?

Style Spotting: Blue Moon

Hi La Dolce Vita readers, it's Lindsay from The Pursuit of Style and I'm back with this month's edition of Style Spotting. This month I'm feeling inspired by artist Yves Klein and his iconic shade of blue.
Yves Klein Blue | The Pursuit of Style
With Fall just around the corner it feels like the perfect time to add a few pieces in this vivid hue to my wardrobe. I'm taking notes from the street style photo above. Can't go wrong with a statement making coat or clutch!

The famous shade of blue is equally as striking in interiors. This photo of John Demsey's bachelor pad is a personal favorite. The chair, throw, and artwork add the perfect punch of color to a masculine space.

If you're loving Klein blue as much as I am, here are a few pieces to help you re-create the look of the photos above. I hope you enjoyed this month's edition of Style Spotting. See you next month!
