Fabulous Room Friday 06.03.11

This week, I am absolutely loving the elegant simplicity of this room in designer, Chloe Warner’s San Francisco home (thanks for the source, Courtney!). In my opinion, it is the perfect room for the beginning of summer. The neutral color palette of white and tan creates an ideal backdrop for the lovely Fiddle Leaf Fig Trees and Quadrille pillows. The windows beckon a million possibilities, which I often associate with summer. Who knows what the season will hold for us all, aside from the heat! Anyhow, I love the clean lines of the furniture along with the beautiful ceiling and vintage chandelier which gives the room the perfect touch of glamour.

On a side note, does anyone know where I can find a Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree in Houston? I have seen them all over Los Angeles, but I haven’t seen them in Texas.

High Gloss Magazine in the New York Times!

I am thrilled to share that High Gloss Magazine is featured in today’s New York Times as well as on their website in an article titled “The Thriving (Online) Shelter Magazine Industry”. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would be in the New York Times! This is definitely a “pinch-me” moment. I have to say that I am disappointed that they did not mention my partner and co-founder, Lauren Rauter or our Art Production Manager, Dabney Lee after I asked them to, but am incredibly grateful that they chose to write about the project we have all poured our hearts and souls into.

A big congratulations goes out to my friends, Crystal Gentilello and Anne Sage of Rue, Katie Armour of Matchbook as well as to the team at Lonny.

I spend most of my day on the computer, writing blog posts for La Dolce Vita, executing my tasks as editor of High Gloss Magazine and writing some freelance articles on the side. In between all of that and engaging in my social media addictions (Twitter, Facebook and most recently, Pinterest), I am sometimes able to sneak in a little shopping. I have recently come across some stylish, noteworthy bargains that I can’t help but share with everyone. I love a great deal!

Scarves serve so many purposes. You can use them as headwraps, sarongs, scarves (of course!). One of my favorite ways to use scarves happens to be fashioning throw pillow covers from them. Since these are pretty inexpensive, I would suggest going with a sturdier linen, cotton or velvet in a coordinating solid color for the back of the pillow and using one of these pretty ethnic prints for the front. They’re chic and cheap!
