Giveaway: 3 Tickets to Design Camp!

538213_409034882462396_569784583_n[1]

A couple of months ago, La Dolce Vita has partnered with Design Camp’s founders, Lori Dennis and Kelli Ellis to offer one lucky reader a free ticket ($1,297 value) to the next Design Camp in Atlanta. Well, I am super excited to be back with THREE more tickets to giveaway to this month’s Design Camp! If your resolution for 2013 is to break into the interior design industry or to take your business to a new level, this is your chance! In a nutshell, Design Camp is comprised of two days and nights of learning, designing, connecting, lunches, cocktail parties and life long relationship brand building. The first Design Camp in Austin in October was a big success with over 120 attendees.

380359_408983802467504_1067610986_n[1]

The two-day Design Camp seminar is hosted and instructed by Celebrity Interior Designers Lori Dennis and Kelli Ellis, with special guest segments led by local and national industry experts in niche fields. The next camp in Atlanta from January 30th -February 1st will be held at the Fox Theater. Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles will be the media sponsor and they’ll have a fabulous line up of talented and seasoned speakers including Ronda Carman, Susanna Salk, Adam Japko, Tobi Fairley and many more inspiring members of the design industry.

The course is tailored for design professionals and design aficionados. Each day runs from 9AM-6PM and is broken down into 8 segments per day. Drinks, Snacks, Lunch, and Cocktail parties are included. By the end of Design Camp, attendees will have the confidence and ability to run successful modern-day design careers, execute magazine- ready interior projects, take their careers to an entirely new level, network and collaborate with local suppliers and colleagues.

I am personally planning to attend the Design Camp in Atlanta and hope to see some of you, including the THREE lucky winners of this giveaway at camp!

Wow! What a great opportunity... This is definitely something that would be a life changing experience. So crazy how this popped up during a time when I am making huge decisions in my life. I am an interior designer, floral designer and a single mom of two. After working in NYC for many years and living a pretty hectic life, I realized that I needed to do what truly makes me happy. Not that living a hectic life and working in NYC isn't fabulous...Life is still hectic and I love it! I just wanted to do if for myself and for my children. So i did! Last year, when I turned 40, I took all of my savings and opened a flowers and home shop in town. This to me was a stepping stone. My place to shine a little..to create visibility for myself as a designer and to show the world what "I" can do. I realize that my gift and my true passion is to create beautiful environments for people. Happily, I have completed several design projects and I'm working on some new one's. I have a handful of weddings booked for the summer and I've also received some press. However, the retail part of the business has been difficult, but I need to push forward. I have to make this dream grow to the next level. Beyond the store and Bloomfield, NJ. I want to learn and be inspired by other like minded woman. I have always wanted to have my own design show and to do public speaking to educate and inspire other woman who want to take the leap, but are too afraid to take the risk. I want to live my life learning, doing and sharing all things creative. The list of dreams goes on and on, but to me completely attainable! I'm sure as an entrepreneur yourself, you understand. Actually, you set a
GREAT example for our community and you are truly an inspiration. I know this is long.. but I wanted to express my true self.
With that said..I do hope the truth and the universe will connect.
Thanks so much for listening! Hope this year is the best one yet.

After growing up with an interior designer mother and two interior designer grandmothers, I felt I could not possibly follow what was destined for me as a career from a young age. But now that I am 27 in a corporate job, I find myself perusing interior design blogs all day and wondering how I could have been so foolish. What can I say? It is in my blood. I would be honored to represent a long line of interior designers and finally plunge head first into something I am truly passionate about... If I had one dream for the design camp it would be to explore wallpaper and wallpaper design. My paternal grandmother designed woodblocked wallpaper and I'd love to pay homage to her work. Thank you so much for giving all of your followers a shot!

Hi Paloma! I'm a business development advisor with a Boston-based textile design company called Merida. We cater to the interior design trade and I would LOVE a chance to attend Design Camp because I think it would be tremendously helpful in understanding the needs, challenges, and visions interior designers have today. I'm passionate about learning how interior designers run their businesses and finding creative solutions. I think Design Camp could give me valuable insight into new, imaginative, and fun ways to collaborate with and support them. Thank you for the opportunity! nataliedkaiser@gmail.com

I would loveeee to attend! I'm currently in my 4th year of University studying Textile Sciences and would really like to study Interior Design in the future. I live in a smaller city in Canada and am so uninspired here (think of suburban cookie cutter homes EVERYWHERE)! My new years resolution was to start my own blog and to teach myself more about the design industry and community. I can honestly say design and decorating is my passion, and what I am meant to do. I'm just at the point where i'm not sure how to begin and make this dream a reality, especially living in a city where there are so few opportunities. This would be a dream come true! Thanks!

Going to Design Camp would be a total dream for me for several reasons!
First off it is exactly the type of getaway I am looking for as mom to 2 young children. I don't want to leave my kids for something that isn't exciting and special and that is what Design Camp would be for me.
Secondly, we are preparing to buy a new (to-us) larger home. I feel like I have just conquered the 1600 sq ft we have here. I became very used to our home and its benefits & challenges (exposed beams and tongue & groove wood ceilings, lots of odd shaped windows, etc.) Hopefully our new home will be 1000 sq feet larger but it will have a whole new list of things that need to be done and its own quirks. Design Camp would help me adapt to working on a different home and help me find solutions to the new challenges in our future home.

I am a stay at home mom. Since I was a child, I’ve always loved interiors. When it was time to go to college, I decided I pursue a career in law. Living in the capital city – Washington, DC, opportunities abound with political intrigue. I decided not to go to law school and moved into the nonprofit arena to help make a difference. All the while, I poured over shelter magazines and decorated my very own apartment. My friends have always told me I have great taste, and have encouraged me to get into design.

A passion for flowers and gardening led me to start an at-home floral design business. I enjoyed that, but stopped when my first child was born. In 2009, we completely renovated our 1920s bungalow in Decatur, GA. It was during that time that I became obsessed with all things design. I subscribe to over 20 design blogs. I could spend days at fabric and interiors stores.

I started writing a blog in October. Still a work in progress, it covers a broad range of topics, including design. Here’s my first design 101 post:

http://bluemopheads.blogspot.com/2012/11/design-101-my-faves.html

I would love to break into the business, so please enter me in your giveaway.

Thanks!

I would LOVE the oppotunity to go to design camp. I'm actually in the oil & gas industry and only about 7 years from retiring but I never truly followed my true passion which is all things design and home.

I build furniture, sew slip covers, curtains and pillows, have a Pinterest board overflowing with dreams and real projects for myself and family and friends.

I'm addicted to thrifting and re-doing. My current favorite things are the jig saw I got for Christmas and chalk paint. I love all textiles and have a passion for making ALL spaces more beautiful even though it's not my true career.

I watch Million Dollar Decorators (best show ever), have HGTV or DIY on the TV most days and subscribe to more than a handful of design blogs to get my daily "fix".

All that being said, I would LOVE to be a part of something I should have pursued way back when it was time to attend college and decide my career... so PLEASE pick me, I will be the happiest attendee you have! And who knows, maybe it'll give me the confidence to pursue something all my friends and family have been telling me to do for years.

Thank you for the opportunity,

Hi Paloma,

Always having an interest in architecture and interior design, I had a moment of clarity in 2009 while I was helping my parents renovate their rental property. I loved transforming and updating their space! That moment prompted a question in my head; "can I make a career out of this?" Feeling unfulfilled in my current job as an Administrative Assistant, I was motivated to enroll at The Art Institute of Seattle where I completed their Residential Design program with honors. Since graduating in 2012, my husband and I "flipped" a house which has beefed up my portfolio however, I've found it difficult to break into the industry. I have questioned myself about whether or not I have the courage to follow my dreams. This is what I want to do, I'm just not sure how to get there.

Attending Design Camp in Atlanta will give me the confidence to further pursue my career goals. While I learned a great deal in school, I am looking for more practical information and insight that I can apply in the real world. It would be tremendously helpful to learn about the needs, challenges, and visions interior designers have today. Blogs like La Dolce Vita have inspired me since I first took an interest in interior design. They don't know it, but the women behind these blogs are my mentors. To me, those in the industry embody hard work, talent and determination. I am ecstatic to think that I could be sitting in a room learning from Lori Dennis and Kelli Ellis. Thank you for offering this chance to take the next step forward!

Cheers,

I would so love to attend design camp because, although I have begun developing a deep love and appreciation for interior design throughout the last couple years, I yearn for some more formal training in it than Pinterest ;)
I'm a professional organizer and so I'm very much in the business of bringing a sense of beauty into people's homes, and I would love it if I could feel a bit more confident in that aspect-- to be able to serve my clients with that knowledge as well.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to attend!!

I walk past the Fox around 9am to campus almost every morning! As a senior at a certain college just around the corner, studying business (marketing), I have been desperately trying to figure out how I can integrate my business skills with my increasing interest in interior design.

Jessica Hische's quote, "the work you do while you procrastinate is probably the work you should be doing for the rest of your life," has been so stuck in my mind while I'm in the middle of researching so many post-graduation career options. Gosh darnit, I want to learn design! It's time to turn all my Pinterest-ing, weekend projects, and blog-perusing into some serious work of my own. Design Camp would be such a beyond stellar opportunity to start!

Love the blog! I would trade my right arm (well, maybe a toe) to attend Design Camp. Im just reentering the world (SCAD, business, hobby) after spending a couple years with kids and other dependents. The past 4 years I have filled the need with redoing furniture, decorating a cafe, and fiddling with crown molding and while children are lovely, theres nothing like finding something to do with 6 yards of crewel.
all the best,
