Do Tell: Who are your style icons?

I was so impressed by the number of people who answered the question in last week’s installment of “Do Tell” featuring your signature fragrance. I’m inspired to go out and try a few new perfumes! This week, we turn our focus to style icons, both past and present. Whose style do you most admire? Is there someone from a different era that you turn to for inspiration? Which present day fashionista inspires you the most?

I love your modern picks! I would add Rachel Bilson (occasional risk-taker) and Lauren Conrad (always gets it right).

I'm a big fan of Jean Seberg's style.
It is a bit harder to choose a modern style icon and I don't have a definitive answer but I admire Marion Cotillard.

When I was a fashion baby (back in high school), my style icon was Princess Diana. I had a book of her outfits and tried to copy them for myself including the hats. That lead me to the Laura Ashley brand which I wore a lot of in college. As I got older, I branched out to a few more inspirations. Jackie O, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Marlo Thomas (as That Girl). Current icon inspiration comes from Kate Spade, Deborah Lloyd and Zooey Deschanel. At my age, I think that most of my style comes from within because I have filled up my mind with lovely images so I can now reproduce what I see in my head.

Fun question!

I would have to say that on any given day--any of these various ladies are my style icons. I tend to lean towards Jackie O. and Audrey, and then my modern day icon would be Miss Palermo!

Good question! For the past I would most identify with Grace Kelly, who to me epitomzied classic elegance in a low key way, femnine and full of grace and dignity, is how I think of her and how she looked and presente herself in public.
For a modern icon...would go with Gwenyth Paltrow who likes classic things with a twist and whose public persona I identify with, I also like Anne Hathaways personal style, again elegant, with a twist, but she always has a wonderful composure about herself and that just adds to allure of her personal style.

I love love love Posh... sorry she didn't make it onto your list. I look to her for high fashion. Gwyneth is a no-brainer... refined, elegant, with the perfect balance of uptown and downtown. But for me, Rachael Bilson FTW! She is just so cute and has the best street style going. I am such a sucker for those paparazzi photos of her.

Audrey. Always! For modern style, I always like to see what Victoria Beckham is wearing, even though I don't "dress up" as often as she does.

I think for "then" I'd say Jackie O (love a good trench and simple dress), Lauren Bacall and Kate Hepburn.

For now, I really admire Olivia Palermo and Reese Witherspoon's style. The first for when I want to feel more polished and "Manhattan" and the second for when I want something a little more relaxed.

For overall style and elegance, I would have to say my grandmother. (Believe me, she was stunning
)
Currently finding lots of fashion inspiration from Olivia Palermo. I pretty much love everything she wears, very chic. Have you seen the Tibi ads? Gorgeous.

I love Aerin Lauder's class and style. She's stunning but understated and always fashionable to a tee. Natural beauty is a rare thing these days and La Lauder comes across as gracious and completely confident.
