Dissecting the Details: Nam Dang Mitchell

Hello lovely LDV readers! It's Nancy here, back again with a Dissecting the Details post. Today I wanted to share the work of the immensely talented Nam Dang Mitchell, a Calgary-based designer with oh so chic style. Nam has a way of putting together a living room that is luxe yet comfortable and inviting at the same time. Let's unpack 4 key elements to these living rooms to see how she pulls off the look:

Nam tends to use 2 to 3 clustered coffee tables in her designs, giving a very luxurious and modern feel. I think it brings more interest to the space, and I'll bet the practicality would be great as well; guests would always have a nearby table to perch a drink on! The brass examples are quite divine.

Tufting on sofas, chairs, or ottomans always elevates a space! The added texture of thick woven tufted fabrics really adds something special. Also key to Nam's designs are very classically shaped furnishings you could never grow tired of.

I love that even though Nam exercises restraint and sophistication in her rooms, she isn't afraid to add a little whimsical flair. The goat-legged fluffy ottoman, steel wheels, or white stool on horns are great examples of this. Every room needs a little fun!

Her signature element seems to be luxurious velvet! Nam tends to throw at minimum, a velvet pillow or two into every space. And how glamorous is that velvet sofa just above? And the wonderful thing is that velvet tends to handle heavy use and cleaning very well.

So there you have it, 4 things that make these living rooms rock. On my personal wishlist is a velvet sofa for sure! Which element makes you swoon?
