This month’s issue of House Beautiful features a fabulous Los Angeles home designed by the talented Betsy Burnham. I love Betsy’s work for its laidback, sophisticated bohemian vibe. It’s the perfect version of polished California cool. The home featured in House Beautiful is all of these things—eclectic chic at its best. I was especially drawn to the family room pictured in this post because of the pink chinoiserie sofa. It is upholstered in Quadrille’s China Seas Lyford pattern. A pink, chinoiserie-swathed sofa is not the type of thing that people typically have lukewarm feelings about, so I am wondering what your feelings are on this little lovely. Love it or leave it—are you the pink chioiserie sofa type?

I love the sofas, but I'm not sure I could handle them being in the living/family room. I would probably put one in a lady's office or sunroom.
Loving the sofa fabric! But what's with the empty shelves?? The rooms seems to lack a little something...
Love it. My husband, however, would leave it!
Maybe it's my deep hatred of all things pink, but I'm not a fan. I think that's a hard look to commit to for a very long time. I would go crazy with a print and colors on less expensive pieces like a rug, curtains, throws, or pillows.

This could work on so many levels but it looks very grown up in this space...I can see pinks and pastels mixed with inky black and navy to toughen up the sweetness a bit...but I do love that fabric...very chic!

I love the fabric and the colour, but I would use it on a less expensive piece of furniture, like a chair. Sofas are just too pricey to recover when the homeowner stops loving pink.
Leave it! I could see those sofas in a room that had more coastal inspiration, or in that same room if they were a more saturated color, just not working for me.
Although, I have camel colored sofas and slate blue sofas in my living room, can't convince my husband to go for pink:)

Love the sofa, but the rest of the room needs to be kicked up a notch. It looks good in the first photo, but from the other views it is definitely missing something, and the mostly empty shelves look odd to me too. Some navy, books in the shelves, and a bit more texture might save it.

I love it, I'd have to have it in an otherwise totally neutral white or grey room though.

This definitely seems like a love it or hate it kind of couch! I think it's adorable, but maybe not the most lasting or neutral choice. I was just looking at Quadrille's China Seas Lyford the other day on our site and I think this is the perfect way to use it!
Chinoiserie + ikat = perfection. Seriosuly. This room is amazing to me. I wish I had such bravery.
