Fabulous Room Friday 01.29.10

kitchen mick de giulio
I am head over heels in love with this AMAZING kitchen by Mick DeGiulio! I absolutely adore the chic color palette. The contrast of the grey island and camel stools looks fantastic against the black and white used in the rest of the room. I also like the fact that they mixed gold and silver hardware. Truth be told, I probably wouldn’t love those metal racks on a daily basis and would opt for a more practical storage solution, but they work with the look of the room.

The kitchen seems like it would the chosen place of a gourmand like Ina Garten or Meryl Streep’s character in It’s Complicated. It looks like the kitchen of a person who actually cooks! Perhaps it’s the addition of the pot rack and scale. Form and function coexist beautifully here. Behind the island, there is a fabulous LaCornue range and you’ll notice that the cabinetry fits the style of the gorgeous French range.

This kitchen island is AMA-zing!! I would love to spread out making huge batches of cookies, or host a little informal dinner with everyone sitting around the island. Beautiful!

I like how they mixed gold and silver. My house is older and has some tacky brass fixtures that I just can't disguise. This makes me feel better about mixing metals, though.

Great minds think alike, as I too posted that very same one along with several other dreamy kitchens early last week: http://www.abcddesign.com/archives/2010/01/27/kitchen-inspiration-great-source-decorpad/

That image is making the rounds in the blogisphere, and for good reason!

I adore the black metal base cabinets. I have been completely into the idea of metal cabinets lately -- it's different, you know? I've got lots of feedback from my readers ... and it looks like it's going to be a tough look to sell. I don't know why though, it's gorgeous!

Thanks for posting the second image of the range side of cabinets, I had only seen the one with the island included.

Camel does look stunning with the gray blue extended island. The gold detailing on the stools adds a bit of warmth to the cool color tone.

I would say that the pot rack misses the mark. The hood is a statement piece, but is obscured by the busy storage unit.

The kitchen is often the heart of the home and a place where friends and family seem to gravitate. I like the photos of this kitchen, lovely designs too.
