Jet Set: Hotel Design by Pablo Paniagua

In the town of Palo Alto, California, just outside of San Francisco, you’ll find the newly redesigned Garden Court Hotel. The property recently underwent a major transformation under the direction of Spanish interior designer, Pablo Paniagua, whose work has appeared in Nuevo Estilo magazine many times. What appeals most to me about the approach Paniagua took in designing this hotel property is the modern traditional aesthetic. That may sound like an oxymoron, but Paniagua has taken classic pieces like the Klismos-style desk chair and traditional lighting designs and he’s mixed them with a completely modern sensibility that comes from the graphic carpets and monochromatic color palettes. From what I could tell on the hotel’s website, it looks as though at this stage, Paniagua has only redesigned the guestrooms and the public spaces might be up for renovation in the next stage.

{I love the canopies used above the beds in this guestroom.}

{The color palette and overall design of this lovely room remind me a lot of the JK Capri hotel by one of my favorite designers, Michele Bonan.}

Fabulous Room Friday 09.09.11

I simply love these stunning images of wallpaper and textiles designer, Neisha Crossland’s master bathroom in her London home. Located in the Maida Vale neighborhood, her gorgeous house is full of spectacular details like the fretwork screens leading from her master bedroom into her bathroom.

{I love the high ceilings, sink, and large-scale mirror. The intricate sconces are also quite beautiful. The white and grey color palette is perfect for a master suite—fresh and serene.}

Have a wonderful weekend!

Currently Loving: Shopping Bags as Art

One of my many recent Pinterest obsessions is this fabulous idea from Erica of Moth Design. Over the weekend, I got the new Selma Riding Boots at Tory Burch and my husband commented on how much he liked Tory’s shopping bags and packaging, which totally made me think of this project. Why not get a little extra mileage out of one’s pricier purchases, especially when some of these things hold sentimental value? Erica chose simple, white frames from Ikea to showcase several different-sized shopping bags from some of her favorite shopping trips and hung them to add a decorative touch to her closet.

{Isn’t this fabulous?}

Would you ever try this in your own closet?
