I recently came across designer, Kristen Panitch’s work for the first time and was thrilled to have stumbled upon her portfolio. Based in Los Angeles, Kristen’s work certainly exudes that special brand of cool California elegance that has come to be associated with the area. What I love most about the spaces Kristen designs is the way in which she mixes traditional silhouettes and classic shapes with bohemian fabrics to create incredibly warm, inviting spaces. As you’ll see in these images, Kristen is a master at mixing ethnic textiles like ikats and hand-blocked prints with beni ourain rugs and other exotic pieces. Lately, I’ve been increasingly drawn to bohemian interiors, so naturally, I love that Kristen designs spaces that exude a bohemian vibe while maintaining an air of sophistication.
{Notice how many patterns coexist beautifully in this living room. The bold piece of art is the perfect way of bringing everything together.}
{Doesn’t this game room/media room look inviting? I would take this cozy and functional set-up over a gimmicky home theatre any day.}
{Another Cozy Room for Lounging and Watching TV—I actually love the way in which she used the same striped fabric on the seating, walls, window treatment, and the inset panels on the built-in. The color palette and stripes keep it from being overwhelming. Instead, it creates a super cozy vibe that summons you into the room.}
{I adore this kitchen. The cabinetry is spectacular. I also love the lighting and stools.}
{This is such a great example of mixing styles and patterns successfully in an open-plan space.}
{I am dying over this bedroom and dressing room. First, notice the amazing ceiling in the bedroom and the gorgeous club chairs swathed in sumptuous tangerine velvet. Then, admire the beautiful built-ins and brass lighting (French Library Double Wall Lamps and a Basil Flush Mount from Circa Lighting) and hardware in this dream dressing room.
{Isn’t this bedroom lovely as well?}
{I am in love with this gorgeous bathroom. Notice the glamorous brass vanity.}
{The patterns in this bedroom are done in such a graphic way that the look is really modern. It’s a serene, yet hip bedroom.}
{Isn’t this built-in bed adorable? I love the bold striped rug paired with the floral pattern of the headboard and drapes.}
{You may have seen this bedroom before as it has made the rounds on Pinterest. Isn’t this a brilliant use of space? The built-in bunk beds and desks completely maximize the space to allow for plenty of room to play.}
{More Amazing Cabinetry and Hardware, This Time, In a Mud Room—How beautiful are the painted cement tile floors?}
Which of these rooms is your favorite?

I love the two media rooms - the seating in both looks so cozy! I would love to curl up and watch a movie (ahem, or take a nap) in either.

She has a unique perspective, and it works. I hate to say it, though, but she needs to hire a professional photographer. The poorly-lit shots don't do her work justice.
Hmm...Alison, I am pretty sure these are professional shots. I recognize the natural California light after working on several shoots there. It's always good to have constructive criticism, though. :)
ooooooh want that fireplace in the bedroom. how romantic!
smiles to you.

Her work is fabulous! I've heard the name but really didn't know who she was. Thanks for putting her on my radar.
So many fabulous details to marvel at!
That second living room pic is to die for. Making that many patterns harmonious takes skill.
Love the patterned cement tiles in the mudroom! So classic and timeless with the added interest of bold colors! Just lovely!
