Small Wonders

ron marvin2

Apartment Therapy’s Small, Cool 2010 design contest is well under way. It is always such an inspiration to see how much style people can fit into spaces as small as less than 400 square feet. A couple of years ago, I first learned of talented New York-based interior designer, Ron Marvin when his teeny tiny apartment (pictured above) was a finalist in the contest. This year, there are so many lovely spaces! Here are a few of my personal favorites.

{This chic space in Hamilton Heights, NYC belongs to fellow blogger, Nicole of So Haute.}

{Adam of Houston, TX (Go Houston!)}

{Usheen of Kips Bay, NYC}

{Beth of Sausalito, CA}

{Holy shizzle! Natalie’s San Francisco studio apartment is only 285 square feet.}

{I love Anu’s Clayton Missouri apartment. With all of those fabulous patterns, she is definitely a girl after my own heart!}

{Madelene’s apartment in Eskilstuna, Sweden}

{I love the moody palette Jeremy used in his tiny 415 square foot Chicago apartment.}

Which of these spaces caught your eye? The finalists were announced on Apartment Therapy today and voting will continue in various rounds until May 10th.

Love all these spaces! So much fun inspiration for my own living room!

I love Beth's from California. That space is a great example of someone who likes design and having a great space, but also living in it. Places that have been "designed" often tend to look like a pretty picture that says "don't touch." Beth has done a great job :)

It's hard to choose just one, but I think Natalie's San Fransisco apartment is perfect. I especially love that cozy little nook with the West Elm Pintuck duvet and all the decorative pillows. Looks like the ideal place to curl up with a good book.

Hi, I am also a blogger from Houston (KeepHoustonRich.com). Thanks for posting my partner's apartment as one of your favorites from this year's Apartment Therapy's Small Cool Places content.

Our apartment made it to the semifinals and we sure could use your help promoting it online.

Our match is Wednesday, April 28. Here is the link:

Could you post a link to remind your viewers to vote for the home team!!

Thanks for your help.

Sincerely,

You picked a lot of great spaces, so it's hard to choose a favorite, but I really love Beth of Sausalito's place. I also adore the curtained off sleeping nook in Natalie's San Francisco studio-- perfectly cozy and secluded.

And running into you yesterday was such a pleasant surprise! xo

These are such inspiring spaces, Paloma. I need to start reading Apartment Therapy again!

And yay for Houston! Though honestly I didn't think we had that many small spaces... ;)

Necessity is certainly the mother of invention (and good design). Such teeny tiny spaces chocked full of fabulous design. I'm just glad I'm in Texas where our bathrooms are bigger than those apartments! Tee Hee

Love the last one- who would have thought to put a pretty lamp next to the stove like that. Genius!
