9 by Design on Bravo: What did you think?

sixx design

Did you catch the premiere of 9 by Design on Bravo on Tuesday night? My husband and I watched it together and we both loved it. It stars Robert and Cortney Novogratz, of Sixx Design and their beautiful brood. Their amazing vision and risk-taking is beyond inspiring. I don’t understand how they juggle their business, multiple construction and design projects, and seven young children. The kids, by the way, are adorable! Not only are they beautiful children, they have really cute, bold personalities.

On Tuesday, I noticed some people saying on Facebook and Twitter that just watching the show stressed them out. Sort of like The Rachel Zoe Project or Kell on Earth. I can understand that, as there never seems to be a dull moment in the Novogratzes lives, but I love their “can-do” attitude. It sort of makes you re-evaluate things. If they can get through the day with seven children, shouldn’t I be able to tackle my own to-do list? The show is very entertaining and the family is so endearing, so I will definitely keep watching. Be sure to tune in every Tuesday at 9:00 pm CST.

What were your thoughts on the show? Here’s a sneak peek of the rest of the season:

I really liked it -- and so did Dave! (He said that it was way better than most of my design shows, but then again it's more reality than design.) I also thought the kids were hilarious. Loved and totally identified with Courtney -- just not sure how she doesn't totally freak out on Robert, who is WAY too laid back for me.

such a fan! their aesthetic is so my own! i think they are amazing - but i am IN LOVE with their art collection! their attention to the details is amazing and i love how despite being such a "designed" space it is totally functional and livable - for adults and children. can't wait for more!

I just posted on this as well. I saw their home firsthand on a House Tour a couple of years ago and LOVED it - so so pretty in person. They use reclaimed materials in a very modern, interesting way. They also renovated the home next door to them for a single guy. It was the ultimate for any guy - a full amazing bar on the top floor. I loved the show and can't wait to see more.

I will definitely be following this show. I've been a fan of the Novogratz for awhile and getting a peak at their life is fascinating. I can't imagine how they take on all of the projects they do, move as often as they do, and do it all with so many children. Watching Courtney whip that rental into shape in such a short amount of time makes me feel pretty lazy. Speaking of Courtney, how gorgeous is that women? I don't think she wears an ounce of makeup and she's amazing looking nine months pregnant.

They are an amazing family. With all that stress, they seem to just handle everything smoothly. They have a go with the flow attitude. When they moved into that apartment temporarily (on the premiere). It was a mess. I would have went bonkers. They pulled it together and made it look fantastic! After watching them, it is inspiring. There is certainly more I could tackle...that is for sure!

Can't wait to see what is next in their lives.

I loved it. I really enjoy any of these reality shows where you actually get to see a little bit of their design process - I always find that so interesting.

Plus I'm so envious I can't help but to tune in to capture more of their life!

I thought the father was really obnoxious and couldn't believe he lied to his super pregnant wife about looking for an apartment. They might be talented but I don't think they're the lease bit entertaining.

I really enjoyed it and found it to be very entertaining. Courtney has to be the most organized focused woman around. She could get so much done with all her children, and being pregnant and from what I could tell not much help from Hubby. The opinion is still out on him, but I love her and the children, gorgeous family!! Looking forward to more shows. I hope they talk more about how they process and come up with the designs. very interesting,Kathysue

I watched the show today for the first time and I liked it. I do agree with others that it was a bit stressful to watch, life would be chaotic with that many kids and a business. As a former New Yorker I give them credit for raising such a large family in that city and being successful in design and real estate.

My husband and I also watched it together...we've been fans of their inspiration, guts, and energy for awhile. Their energy and moxie were very inspiring. Robert was a bit obnoxious for me...but those adorable kids make up for it. They seem so polite, respectful and helpful. They are going to go far with this show!

I really enjoyed their show and design style! I loved how they used modern art and photography in their children's rooms. I thought it was so refreshing not to be filled with ducks and rabbits, but something for the children to learn from and help develop their creativity. My husband and I don't have any children right now, but hopefully will in a few years, and I really look forward to doing something similar!

As a mom, I couldn't help admire Cortney's roll-with-it attitude. She and Robert are obviously doing something right. Despite the chaos of everday living (raising 2 kids is hard enough, I can't imagine 7), those kids are amazing.

Not only do they have major vision in design but I notice that I've been really influenced by her parenting philosiphies."What? You want to ride the mattress down the stairs? Go right ahead." How cool was that?
Thanks to her I'm also seriously considering getting rid of my tv...but then how would I watch their show?

I loved the show, they as such an interesting family. They all made me laugh, the family is so like my roommate from colleges family. Crazed, fun, wild dressings, I always felt like a quiet spectator watching their lives.

I enjoyed it, but I agree that the husband is annoying/ obnoxious. I put it on my DVR record list. Wouldn't want to miss a chance to envy their success! LOL
