No, I don't mean Betty herself, though I'm sure that must have been your initial thought. I think she is absolutely adorable and I am indeed a fan of the show. The thing I find ridiculous is the fact that it is produced by Salma Hayek, who is Mexican, yet Betty and her family who are supposed to be Mexican are all played by actors who aren't Mexican. It is so obvious that some of them are Puerto Rican. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but come on Salma! She also depicts Mexico as some dusty, third world country. Anyone who has been there knows better. Perhaps it's meant to add to the campiness of the show, but it is annoying nonetheless.

I have noticed that, too. :P The thing that got me was the depiction of Mexico as third world, yet his family lives in a beautifully decorated home. The contradiction was odd to me.
I could not agree more, I thought the show was so fun when it first came out...now I have a hard time watching it.
Wow, nicely said! I found your blog through Amy and I'll be continuing to read it ! :)
Yep, I know what you mean. My BF is Mexican and a TV prodcuer and the show annoys the heck out of him. There are a lot of things that are culturally wrong with the show. Mexicans are by far the largest group of Latinos in the U.S. (In other words, the majority of Latinos who watch the show know that it's "wrong.") Salma should know better.
