I recently helped a reader with her living room and dining room. She and her husband wanted spaces that were tailored and polished, yet relaxed and family-friendly since they have two small children and a dog. They’re young, hip, and sophisticated and wanted their home to be a reflection of that without feeling like it was off-limits to their kids or pet. I recommended polished pieces with classic lines done in casual, family-friendly fabrics like linen, cotton, and aged leather. They’re thrilled with the result and I have to say, I love it, too!
{The family room is warm and inviting and was designed around pieces with durable fabrics and finishes with a natural patina to make them more family-friendly. I love the masculine, California-cool vibe of this space!}
{We went slightly more modern and added a touch of glamour in the dining room while maintaining the inviting, masculine vibe of the living room. The walls will be painted a deep navy (see swatch at top right), which will make everything pop! I think the contrast of the white furniture and gold pieces is going to look amazing against the navy walls. We love juxtaposition of the Saarinen Tulip Table and the more traditional Chippendale chairs, mirror, and lighting.}
What do you think? I hope you like these spaces!
