If eyes are the windows to the soul, then doors may just be the windows to one’s home…could that be right? As silly as that phrase sounds, I do think that a beautiful, inviting doorway makes a big impact in a person’s overall impression of one’s home. Chances are, if a house looks beautiful on the inside, it will intrigue people as to what lies behind the front door. It’s kind of like putting your best face forward. So, which style of doorway appeals to you most: Classic and Elegant or Bright and Bold?
{I love the casual, organic quality of this doorway.}
{Simple, lovely and presumably in London, like most of these doorways.}
{A Charming, Romantic California Doorway—I would love to have roses like these at home!}
{I love the perfect symmetry here. The door itself is quite unique.}
{Classic London Doorway}
{I love the urns and the touches of gold here.}
{Could these be the most glamorous doors in London? I mean, seriously, how fabulous is that pink, studded door?}
{Another Pink Door in Beautiful London}
{This doorway may be black and white, but there isn’t anything boring about it!}
{The doorway to Miles Redd’s Manhattan home…I die for the hardware!}
{I love how bright and charming the exterior of this Mexican house is. I miss Mexico and hope that the drug violence subsides soon so that I can go back.}
{How cute is this house? The yellow door is so fun and I love the boxwood balls planted in the urns on either side.}
{Lime Green Doorway in Morocco}
{How beautiful and lush is this Moroccan door? I love the effect that the faded paint has on the door, especially in contrast to the bright orange walls.}

Although I'm always attracted by bright colors, I need to choose "classic and elegant". That's how my door is, and I think it makes everything feel welcoming.
This post is so beautiful, Paloma. Great job!

All gorgeous but you forgot to include Mary MacDonald's front door . Same knocker as Manhattan door;)
beautiful entrys! i loved the more classic doors, and those roses were really beautiful...
This is such a fun post. I just discovered your blog. Keep up the good work.
I'll always be a bit more classic and traditional in style. That blue door with the lanterns on either side takes it for me. And I think I may just have found the glass design for our front door redo. Thx!
Hahah that was a lot of mixed metaphors! But I agree, the entrance can set up expectations for the rest of the home. These doors are all beautiful - they remind me of Ireland, where almost every front door is different.
Ah that Miles Redd Door is to die for! I love how exquisitely pale it is too.

I'd opt for a high gloss black if we could change our door! Darn HOA...
I think I'll always heart foliage dripping over the edges too. Ultimate welcome sign. ;o)
I love all these gorgeous doors! They're all so striking! Lovely!
I love this post! I could stare at beautiful doors all day :) I think my favorite is the Moroccan door...
Please don't let the violence in Mexico stop you from visiting! I was in Puebla this year and saw many beautiful vistas like the one in this post. The violence is in the north and often limited to those involved with the cartels. While it's true that you might notice extra security, as a tourist you'll have a wonderful time.
OMG this is the cutest post EVER! I love driving by nice homes and staring at front doors wondering how amazing itmust look behind them. I never put together how admirable doors could look all in one post!
My favorite is the one surrounded by the roses. Gorgeous and classy!
oh love a happy door!!
I think the first one is my favorite. (although sadly nothing like my own door!)
xoxo,
lauren
love them all!! But my 1st love is still Black. Of course the Miles Redd's one totally made my heart skip a beat. I must have that hardware!!!
This is a gorgeous collection of doors. They truly define a housel.
My favorite is the Romantic California Doorway - simple but has a little character with the beautiful roses.
Amazing, love these doors!
Beautiful, beautiful post! The Morocco door is amazeballs.
As for the well-meaning anonymous post, I'm afraid he/she is wrong. I'm in charge of getting reporters and producers into war zones: Afghanistan, Iraq, etc. It's more dangerous for me to send a crew into Mexico right now than it is for me to send them into most parts of Iraq and Afghanistan. And this INCLUDES tourist areas. More and more, we are hearing that tourists are going to be targeted next, and they have certainly been accidental victims already. I love Mexico and used to walk over the border to Tijuana to eat tacos just four years ago. A little caution and common sense and even the more dangerous border towns used to be okay. That is just NOT the case anymore. I see the videos of the headless bodies hanging from overpasses every morning. Videos too graphic to ever show on TV. To suggest that Mexico is safe right now is just irresponsible. I love the place and the current situation saddens me to no end. But I see the videos everyday...and it ain't pretty.
What a beautiful collection of colorful entryways! I love the instant feeling of excitement they offer to anyone arriving for a visit to these homes.
I am in love with the pink doors!
I love, love, love a painted door! The Miles Redd door is to die for...have seen it before, and have referenced it when I painted my own house. I also love a yellow door. Serioulsy, yellow is the new red! The red door used to be it for me. Now, its the yellow door that really speaks to me (says hello?)!!
Love your blog girl, have been reading it for ages!!!

I think I am going to paint my front door a bright color now....;)Too cool!!!
Have a lovely sunday!
I always tell clients of the importance of the entrance into their home. The door and foyer should tell you about its inhabitants. Personality is key.
Great selections of doors. Amazing what a coat of color paint can do, especially on a door.
Cheers,
Claudia
So great photos...but the purple one, isn't at Mexico, but in Barcelona. ;)
