Urban Market

Fabian and I took our first trip to the Urban Market yesterday. It was a great experience. The weather was beautiful, there were so many fantastic booths to explore, and the highlight of our visit was meeting Sally Wheat. Her booth (pictured above and in the two pictures below)immediately caught my eye and as we walked into the tent she said she recognized me from my blog, which was too funny. We chatted for a while and it turns out that I was her niece's AP Spanish teacher last year and I was a student at the junior high where Sally taught in the 90's. It really is such a small world! Anyway, she couldn't have been sweeter and we all know how gorgeous her home is. We can't wait until the next market!

I wanted to take all of the chairs Sally had in her booth home with me!

An antique, etched lantern

An interesting display

Religious figures

I love beautiful, old, beat up doors.

This booth had a lot of beautiful linens.

This display was very "Eddie Ross" to me.

We loved these huge lanterns!

I also loved the pair of mirrored tables for sale in Found's booth.

That is one amazing market...and since there is nothing (absolutely nothing) like that going on around where I live I really enjoy taking all these virtual strolls..., upside: I don't spend any money, right.

We went too! I wanted to take that KWID covered chair home! Damn the price on it! I scored a set of 1950's vintage hat boxes from a hat shop on Bond Street in London for $30!! Cheapest trip to the Market yet!! Wish I had run into you!

I wish we had seen you, too, Paige! What time were you guys there? We were between 1:00 and 3:30. I know what you mean about the prices on so much of this stuff, but it's fun to look. Sally said Carolina had been there in the morning. I guess we all missed each other. :(

I was wondering if you had the contact info for the etched lantern love that piece. I live in LA and I would love that piece for my dining table. Please help...:)

Hi Anon, I'm so sorry, but I don't remember which booth I saw it in. However, you can visit the Urban Market's website for a list of vendors or try contacting Jackie Sharbrough, the market's owner as she might be able to identify it for you. Good luck! I'll let you know if I happen to find out.

Ooh, Anon, I just thought of something! If you enlarge the picture with the lantern you like, you can see each booth's number. From the looks of it, it was probably in booth 31,32,or 33.

I hosted a bridal shower over the weekend so I missed it! I did attend the market in May but we just had a terrible storm the night before so the grass was all mud. Needless to say that it was a little hard to walk around and appreciate the beautiful things. Hope you had fun.

Jennifer, that was the day we invited you to Chatter's. The market takes place 3 or 4 times per year, so you will definitely have to come with us next time!
